A High Court in Rivers State, located in Port Harcourt, has granted an ex parte injunction prohibiting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, as well as its National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, from conducting any elective congresses that do not include the claimants/applicants.

This order, which affects all local government and state executive committee congresses, will remain in effect until the court resolves the main lawsuit.

The ruling comes as a setback for the faction of the APC that is supported by former Governor Nyesom Wike.

According to the court’s directive, the defendants are explicitly forbidden from holding the planned congresses on November 23 and 30, 2024, or on any other date. The order also prevents any advancement towards these congresses or the acknowledgment of any individuals claimed to be elected in the ward congresses conducted on November 16, 2024, until the motion for notice is reviewed and decided.

The legal action was initiated by Okwu Joebrown-Ndike, Peace Oganu, and Samuel Uchegbule, who are representing APC members seeking various positions in the upcoming congresses. They contended that, despite having paid for nomination forms, they were unjustly denied access to them.
