The Rivers State Police Command reported that they nabbed a guy named Emeka, who they suspect of raping a pregnant lady, Mrs. Chigbewejim Steward until she passed away.

The guy showed up with his buddies and assaulted the victim to her demise in the Abarikpo community, Ahoada East Local Government Area.

It was gathered that the suspect and the deceased had a fallout on February 12, 2023, leading him to bring his gang to forcibly take her from her home at midnight.

City Round found out that Chigbewejim, who was five months pregnant back then, got taken to some unknown spot where Emeka and his crew reportedly assaulted her until she passed away.

Emeka ran from the community when he found out that the cops were after him. However, he got nabbed 15 months later when the police tracked down his location.

Chigbewejim’s husband, Lawyer Steward, who was also a pastor in Abarikpo community, confirmed the arrest during an interview with reporters in Port-Harcourt and urged the government to ensure justice in the case.

According to ThePaan, it was mentioned that he said, “Emeka, the masterminded of the death of my wife, quarreled with her because he said that my wife called him a wicked man. He told my wife that she would see wickedness that day.

“That night around 1 am on Sunday, February 12, 2023, those bad boys came to my house and broke the door and took my wife away.

“My wife was five months pregnant. Emeka and his gang raped and strangled her to death. The Police arrested him on Thursday. Now he is in the Police Custody. I have gone to the station to give my statement. I want the Government to intervene so that justice will prevail.”

He mentioned that they found his wife’s body near a fishing pond a few hours after she was taken, with several injuries and bleeding from her private areas.

When reached out for comments, the Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, mentioned that investigations are still in progress. She added that Emeka has been apprehended, and the case will be moved to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.
