Speculation continues to surround Rivers State Governor Sim inalayi Fubara, who may soon abandon the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in favour of the Action People’s Party (APP). This anticipated transition is reportedly fueled by the alleged takeover of the PDP’s structure in the state by his former mentor and now Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

As local government elections remain in view, the governor is said to be preparing to rally his supporters towards the APP. Uche Nnadi, the National Chairman of the Action People’s Party, hinted at this potential shift during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Monday.

Nnadi addressed the recent bombing of the APP’s secretariat in the GRA area of Port Harcourt, labeling the attack as an act of treason and terrorism orchestrated by what he referred to as criminal elements.

“It’s a disheartening day for our democracy. We heavily condemn the bombing of our Rivers State chapter’s headquarters. This violent act is nothing short of terrorism and treason,” remarked Nnadi. He expressed gratitude that no lives were lost, noting that the attack occurred right after party members had exited a strategic meeting late at night.

Nnadi continued to assert that this violence was connected to the upcoming local government elections scheduled for October 5, 2024, during which he believes the APP is poised to make a significant impact.

“We will not be discouraged by these actions. The signs are clear that the people of Rivers are rallying behind our party as we gear up for the local government elections. There are forces trying to undermine the positive initiatives of our dedicated Governor, who is committed to facilitating these elections,” he stated confidently.

He concluded by asserting that the APP is the frontrunner in the upcoming local government elections, ready to make its mark.
