Muhammad Sanusi II has been reinstated as the Emir of Kano.
The decision was announced after the governor signed the Kano State Emirate (Repeal) bill into law.
The law, passed by the Kano State House of Assembly, also mandates the former emirs appointed by the previous administration to hand over their instruments of office to the deputy governor, Abdulsalam Aminu Gwarzo.
This move effectively consolidates the historical emirate council of Kano back to its original structure.
Governor Yusuf, while signing the bill, expressed his belief that it will promote unity among the people of Kano and enhance socio-economic development in the state.
He stated that reinstating Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano is crucial for peace and prosperity, aligning with his campaign promises to restore the state’s cultural heritage.
