Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering dedication to the enhancement of all regions within the State, in accordance with his comprehensive seven-point policy framework.

Governor Sanwo-Olu articulated this commitment on Monday during the inauguration of the Babafemi Dada Bridge, along with the Yinka Folarin, Jamiu Lawal, and Shalom Academy road network in the Alimosho Local Government Area.

The Governor emphasized that the inauguration of this project signifies yet another step towards his administration’s goal of promoting sustainable development through the consistent provision of effective infrastructure. It also exemplifies the enduring collaboration between the government and the citizens of Lagos State.

The commissioned project encompasses a bridge and a network of four roads extending a total of 1.8 kilometers, featuring a 250-meter-long deck supported by piles and a nine-meter-wide semi-rigid pavement finish. Additionally, the infrastructure is augmented by the installation of solar-powered streetlights, ensuring safe and accessible routes for the Igando-Ayobo community and its neighboring areas.

During the commissioning ceremony, which was attended by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Oluranti Adebule representing Lagos West, members of the State Executive Council and the Lagos State House of Assembly, as well as various traditional, religious, and political leaders, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his belief that the completion of these projects will significantly contribute to the economic advancement of the Alimosho region.

The Governor noted that the timely delivery of this critical infrastructure project reflects his administration’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Lagos through effective governance.

He stated, “This accomplishment exemplifies our administration’s determination to translate our promises into action. For the esteemed residents of Alimosho, this project transcends mere infrastructure; it reaffirms our dedication to developing facilities that address immediate requirements and foster long-term progress.

“Road infrastructure is among the essential needs in Lagos State, profoundly affecting the health, welfare, and productivity of our populace. This is why Traffic Management and Transportation has been prioritized as the foremost pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S.+ Agenda. Providing adequate and high-quality infrastructure presents a significant challenge for any responsive administration, and we have risen to meet this challenge.

“This infrastructure ensures safe and efficient access while facilitating economic development by connecting LASU-IBA and Condos roads. The project is aligned with the State’s Strategic Transportation Master Plan, ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and sustainability.

“Upon its completion, we have enhanced the drainage system, addressed longstanding flooding issues, and created employment for over 342 individuals directly, while generating numerous indirect opportunities. Various professionals, including engineers, quality assurance specialists, suppliers, administrative personnel, artisans, and unskilled laborers, have benefited from this initiative. Additionally, related industries, such as cement, steel, and solar light manufacturers, have witnessed economic growth.

“This infrastructure supports our broader vision of stimulating local economies and establishing a framework for sustained development. By reducing commute times and expenses, the bridge and road network will improve the quality of life for residents and enhance productivity. This project represents a significant advancement in transportation improvement, economic activity stimulation, and equitable infrastructure distribution.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu also encouraged residents to take ownership of this project. “I urge the community to take pride in this achievement and encourage the Community Development Associations (CDAs) to commit to its maintenance and responsible usage. I want you to regard this project as your own, as you are the direct beneficiaries of its advantages. I view you as partners in this process of state-building, and we highly value your cooperation and feedback regarding this and other initiatives,” he concluded.
