The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially inaugurated its national gubernatorial campaign council in preparation for the upcoming Ondo State election scheduled for November 16.
The campaign council will be spearheaded by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with fellow governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun State), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti State), Mai Mala Buni (Niger State), as well as governors from Kaduna and Rivers States appointed to lead various sub-committees.
In addition, Chief Bisi Akande has been appointed to head the Elders Committee for the election.
During the inauguration, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje urged the council members to initiate grassroots campaigns, officially handing over the campaign tools to Governor Sanwo-Olu.
Ganduje expressed confidence in Sanwo-Olu’s ability to secure the re-election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the forthcoming gubernatorial contest, citing Sanwo-Olu’s successful leadership of the campaign for late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s second term four years ago.
He reassured the Ondo State populace that the APC candidate is a strong contender, referencing his commendable performance in office over the past ten months.
“The campaign council is set to mobilize and collaborate closely with the local campaign teams. Our objective is to retain Ondo State for the APC through democratic processes,” Ganduje stated.
He also highlighted the importance of unity in the geopolitical zone, acknowledging the significance of having the President from that region. “We must ensure cohesion in this geopolitical area, and it is a duty we must fulfill through democratic methods,” he emphasized.
Ganduje called on party members to actively engage their families and communities to ensure victory in the election. “We are here to support and inspire you, ensuring a fair electoral process that will lead us to success by the grace of God,” he added.
Following the inauguration, Sanwo-Olu encouraged party members to focus on identifying the party’s logo on the ballot, clarifying that it will not be the candidate’s name that appears, but rather the party’s emblem.
