Subsidy: Lagos govt extends Flexible Work Initiative by 3 months

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the return of the Ounjè Eko Sunday market, featuring a 25% discount on various products.

The market is scheduled to reopen this Sunday.

Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, shared the news on X, confirming the directive from Abisola Olusanya, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, during a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday.

“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered the revival of the Ounjè Eko Sunday market, which will offer a 25% price reduction starting this Sunday. Commissioner Abisola Olusanya has confirmed that all preparations are in place. Lagosians, get ready!” Omotoso’s post stated.

Originally launched in March but suspended after a few weeks, the Ounjè Eko markets offer significant discounts on essential food items such as rice, beans, gari, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper. The markets were previously held at 27 locations in Ikeja, six in Lagos Island, nine in Ikorodu, five in Epe, and ten in Badagry.
