Controversial Big Brother Naija reality star, Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David, popularly known as Doyin, has voiced her strong opposition to the idea of women becoming full-time housewives. In her view, this traditional role poses significant financial and personal risks for women.

Doyin elaborated on her stance during the latest episode of her podcast, ‘Doyin’s Corner.’ She expressed concern over the vulnerability that comes with women being entirely dependent on their spouses for financial support.

“One of the riskiest things you can do is get married and want to be a full housewife and completely depend on your husband without any savings,” she said.

Her argument is rooted in the belief that financial dependency can lead to a lack of autonomy and respect within the marriage. She pointed out that women who have no independent source of income may face unnecessary insults and disrespect.

“I don’t support that anyone should be a full housewife. I think it is too risky. It can also lead to unnecessary insults and disrespect,” Doyin emphasized.

Doyin shared her personal perspective, highlighting that even if she were married to a very wealthy man, she would still choose to engage in some form of business or income-generating activity.

“I will never be a full-time housewife, even if I am married to the wealthiest man. At least I will have a business,” she asserted.

Her comments reflect a broader conversation about gender roles and financial independence in contemporary marriages.

Many women today seek to balance their roles as caregivers and contributors to the household income, aiming for a more egalitarian partnership.

Doyin’s views resonate with those advocating for women’s empowerment and financial independence as crucial components of a healthy and respectful marital relationship.
