During the Senate’s first meeting after the annual recess, Akpabio emphasized the urgent need for legislative action in response to the escalating insecurity affecting various parts of the country.

He described the current situation as a wake-up call for lawmakers to intensify their efforts in creating comprehensive laws and implementing measures that would enhance community safety.

“This recent break allowed us to reconnect with the sentiments of our constituents, reinforcing their hope for a better future,” Akpabio stated.

Reflecting on the past three months, he noted the range of significant events—both challenges and victories—that require their prompt attention and decisive action.

“Our citizens are confronting the harsh realities of rising inflation, increased living costs, and market instability. These issues have profoundly impacted our society, and I want to express our sincere empathy for every Nigerian enduring these hardships,” he said.

“It is our solemn responsibility as your representatives to respond with both urgency and compassion.”

Akpabio continued, “As we commence this new legislative session, I extend my gratitude to all of you for demonstrating patriotism and a spirit of nationalism in your duties here.”

He urged each senator to remain mindful of the weight of their responsibilities. “We are the voice of the people, entrusted with the vital task of advocating for their rights and improving their lives.”

While acknowledging the formidable challenges ahead, he urged senators to approach them with honesty and unwavering resolve. “We must not waver in our mission to enhance the lives of our fellow Nigerians.”

“We owe it to them to prove ourselves deserving of the trust they have placed in us,” Akpabio concluded.
