Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Brigadier General Godwin Abbe, the former military Governor of Akwa Ibom State, calling it a significant loss for both the people of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria as a whole.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio lauded General Abbe as a “committed public servant, a true patriot, and a pioneer” who made substantial contributions to the advancement of Akwa Ibom State and the nation.
The Senate President reflected on General Abbe’s distinguished career, noting his roles as Minister of Defence and Minister of Interior, stating, “His passing is not just a loss for his family or the people of Akwa Ibom State; it is a loss for the entire nation. His legacy of unwavering service, integrity, and leadership will serve as an enduring source of inspiration for future generations.”
“On behalf of my family, the citizens of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, and the 10th Senate, I extend my heartfelt condolences to General Abbe’s family, the government, and the people of Edo State, praying that God grants them the strength to cope with this irreplaceable loss,” he concluded.
