Senator Ali Ndume has made scathing remarks about Daniel Bwala, a former critic of President Bola Tinubu, labeling him a failed lawyer and asserting that he poses a liability to the Nigerian leader.

Bwala, who previously left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2023 elections, has since returned to the APC. Recently, he criticized Ndume for his negative comments about President Tinubu and accused the Borno senator of inciting local youth in Hawul against him.

In response, Ndume, who recently lost his role as Chief Whip of the Senate due to his dissenting views on Tinubu’s policies, claimed that Bwala is merely seeking the President’s favor.

“I hope they consider giving him something, as he is trying to find a way to sustain himself after failing as a lawyer in Abuja,” Ndume remarked during a press briefing in Maiduguri on Saturday.

“He’s attempting to cozy up to the presidency and gain sympathy. I’m not interested in that; we engage in politics, not violence.

In our region, we focus on the people’s politics. I can state confidently that Daniel Bwala, as opposed to other more capable Bwala figures, will prove to be a political liability for the President.”

In retaliation to Ndume’s accusations, Bwala vowed to present evidence soon and dismissed the senator’s statements as a “litany of falsehoods.”

“I have witnessed Ali Ndume’s barrage of lies against me in his recent interview, merely because I called out his hypocrisy and grandstanding in relation to the President and the National Assembly, as well as his attempts to incite violent protests against Tinubu,” Bwala stated. “This is a senator whose party requested his demotion in the National Assembly for his unbecoming behavior.”
