Former Senator Shehu Sani has indicated that the current political issues in Rivers State is proving to be costly for both Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.

Sani shared his insights in a post on X on Saturday, amid the ongoing unrest related to the local government elections scheduled for Saturday.

He elaborated that the crisis incurs substantial expenses as funds are continually required to secure and maintain the loyalty of supporters and to defend political strongholds.

“The political situation in Rivers is financially burdensome for the Governor, the Minister, and the state’s residents,” Sani noted. “Daily expenditures are necessary to buy and retain loyalists while safeguarding political interests. This is a state abundantly endowed with wealth yet plagued by persistent challenges,” he added.
