Afrobeat icon Seun Kuti has revealed his involvement in the ongoing controversy between cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, and influencer Martins Vincent Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM). The saga gained momentum after VDM released an audio clip allegedly featuring Bobrisky, in which the social media star claimed to have bribed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with ₦15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.

In the now-viral recording, Bobrisky also boasted about never serving a day in prison after receiving a six-month sentence, thanks to a godfather who allegedly arranged for him to stay in a lodge instead of jail.

However, Bobrisky swiftly denied these claims on Wednesday, stating in an Instagram post that the recording was fabricated. He emphasized that he completed his prison term and dismissed the allegations as false.

Amid the controversy, Seun Kuti has come forward to share his role in the unfolding events. During an Instagram Live session, Kuti disclosed that he was the first person VDM approached about the recording and that he encouraged the influencer to expose Bobrisky.

“You people are late to the party, I was the first person VeryDarkMan informed about the story. I gave him the go-ahead to expose Bobrisky,” Kuti revealed during the live broadcast.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has responded to the bribery allegations by summoning both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to their Lagos office. The agency is currently investigating the ₦15 million bribery claims and has called on both parties to provide relevant information to assist with the inquiry.
