Tragedy struck on Monday night along the bustling Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, as a fatal road accident claimed the lives of seven individuals and left eleven others injured. The incident involved two vehicles: an unidentified truck and a Mazda bus with the registration number MNY894 YN. According to Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the collision occurred at 9:33 pm, triggered by what is suspected to be excessive speed on the part of the Mazda bus driver. The bus reportedly collided with the rear of the moving truck, leading to the devastating outcome.

In the aftermath, the injured victims were promptly rushed to PATMAG Hospital Ogere for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were respectfully deposited at the FOS morgue in Ipara.

Expressing condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, the FRSC emphasized the importance of vigilance among passengers to intervene in situations where drivers may be making dangerous errors. Additionally, the Corps issued a stern reminder to motorists regarding the perils of speeding, particularly at night or during adverse weather conditions like rain, which significantly impairs visibility.

This sobering incident serves as a poignant reminder of the critical need for road users to prioritize safety, exercise caution, and adhere to speed limits, ensuring that such heartbreaking accidents are minimized on our roads.
