Seyi Tinubu, youth advocate and son of President Bola Tinubu, extended his heartfelt sympathy to the people of Borno State following the devastating floods that hit Maiduguri, the state capital.
Accompanied by his brother, friends, and associates, Seyi made a significant donation of goods valued at over ₦500 million on behalf of his network. During the visit, he emphasized that this was just the beginning of his commitment to easing the hardships faced by young people affected by the disaster.
“This is the first step in our efforts to contribute to the recovery of those impacted by the flood. Our support will continue until we see Maiduguri and Borno State regain their strength,” Seyi assured, pledging sustained assistance.
President Bola Tinubu, alongside other dignitaries, had earlier visited Borno State in a show of solidarity. Addressing Governor Babagana Zulum and other officials at the state government house, Seyi praised the resilience of Borno’s people, highlighting their courage in the face of past security challenges.
“We are here not just as family representatives but as part of a collective movement of young Nigerians to bring hope and relief to those most in need. This is a moment for unity, compassion, and swift action,” Seyi stated.
Inspired by his father’s recent call for the private sector and individuals to support affected communities, Seyi, alongside his wife Layal through the Noella Foundation, his brother Yinka, and numerous private partners, responded promptly to address the needs of those displaced.
The donation included a wide array of essential items such as food supplies—cartons of spaghetti, tomato paste, groundnut oil, salt, flour, rice, maize, and thousands of loaves of bread. Additionally, the team provided 10,000 pieces of mosquito nets, blankets, mattresses, kettles, wrappers, buckets, mats, sanitary pads, and wash kits. Medical supplies were also given to cover the needs of approximately 50,000 children and adults, including essential medications like antimalarials, anti-hypertensives, antiparasitics, anti-diabetics, analgesics, and antibiotics.
Expressing his gratitude, Seyi commended Governor Zulum’s leadership during the crisis, stating, “Governor Zulum’s tireless efforts have been crucial in ensuring these supplies reach families in need. In times of hardship, it’s our shared duty to stand together. These donations are a gesture of solidarity and compassion, and we hope they provide comfort and relief.”
In a show of support, Chidi, a transport and logistics expert who accompanied Seyi, praised him for his dedication to Nigerians, especially the youth, noting Seyi’s numerous contributions even before his father became president. Renowned aviator Isaac Balami echoed this sentiment, describing Seyi as a young leader committed to supporting and uplifting his country.
Seyi concluded with a message of hope, reiterating his belief in Borno’s strength: “Just as my father, President Bola Tinubu, said, Borno will rise again. The Nigerian youth stand with you, and together, we will rebuild.”
