George Akume, The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has reassured Nigerian youths that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is fully dedicated to harnessing their potential for national development.
Akume conveyed this message during a courtesy visit by a high-level delegation from the Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC), led by Secretary-General Dr. Abbas Agaba.
In his statement, Akume emphasized the significance of youth interests to President Tinubu, exemplified by the appointment of young individuals to key positions of authority.
The administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda places a strong focus on empowering young people to reach their full potential, he affirmed.
Expressing gratitude to the AAYC, Akume appreciated the appointment of Comrade Akoshile Mukhtar, a Nigerian, as the Council’s Regional Coordinator in West Africa.
He encouraged the AAYC to persist in their impactful work in advancing the cause of youths across the continent.
Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, also acknowledged President Tinubu’s commitment to giving the youth a voice within the Renewed Hope Agenda. He assured the President of their support in realizing his vision for a better Nigeria.
The AAYC has expressed interest in expanding its reach to Nigeria, and official procedures are underway for its ratification through the Ministry of Youth Development in collaboration with the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Dr. Agaba, the Secretary-General of AAYC, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for creating an enabling environment for youths to participate in governance, exemplified by the selection of cabinet members.
He appealed to the government to provide the necessary support to Comrade Mukhtar to ensure effective execution of his responsibilities.
During the visit, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was honored with the title of Custodian of the Afro-Arab Youth Council, and the SGF received the Council’s magazines as a gesture of goodwill.
