Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Umar-Ibn Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, has passionately urged the military and other security agencies to ramp up their efforts against the insurgents wreaking havoc in the North East. With a tone of urgency, he implored them to confront the terrorists head-on, taking the fight directly to their strongholds.
El-Kanemi emphasized that this decisive action is essential to restore law and order in communities that have long been under the brutal control of terrorists. He pointed to Guzamala Local Government Area in Borno State as a prime example, a place where civilian presence has been virtually nonexistent for years due to the relentless terror.
The Shehu didn’t stop there. He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the military hierarchy to eliminate the lingering presence of Boko Haram terrorists in Guzamala, Kukawa, and Abadam LGAs. This, he stressed, is crucial for allowing millions of displaced individuals to finally return to their homes and rebuild their lives.
In his impassioned speech, delivered during a Sallah visit to the acting Governor of Borno State, Dr. Umar Kadafur, the Shehu praised the federal government, the security agencies, and notably Governor Babagana Zulum, for their relentless efforts against Boko Haram. However, his message was clear: more must be done to secure a lasting peace.
Responding to the Shehu’s fervent plea, Dr. Kadafur expressed gratitude for the visit and assured him that a dedicated committee, led by the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Hon. Sugum Mai Mele, along with the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), is working tirelessly to restore normalcy. He emphasized their commitment to relocating displaced people of Guzamala back to their ancestral lands, a step towards healing and rebuilding the devastated region.
