Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has dismissed the assertions made by Nigerien military leader General Abdourahamane Tchiani, who alleged that President Bola Tinubu was involved in the establishment of the Lakurawa terrorist organization.

Sani contended that it is implausible for such a terrorist group to find refuge in Nigeria, directly contradicting Tchiani’s claims.

In a recent interview, Tchiani accused Tinubu of collaborating with France to destabilize the Niger Republic, asserting that the Lakurawa terrorist group, allegedly supported by foreign security forces, including those from Nigeria, was behind the December 13, 2024, attack on the Niger-Benin oil pipeline in Gaya, located in the Dosso Region.

In response to these allegations, Sani called for a collaborative effort between the Nigerian government and Niger Republic to combat terrorism effectively.

On his X account, he stated: “The assertion made by the President of Niger regarding Nigeria’s supposed involvement in the formation of the Lakurawa terrorist group is completely unfounded.

“For a nation that has endured over a decade of kidnappings and violence at the hands of terrorists, it is unimaginable that such a group could ever find shelter here.

“The claims from Niger’s President are mere wild speculations, devoid of substance, and represent an unfounded conspiracy theory lacking any credible support.

“The path forward lies in Nigeria and Niger uniting to confront and eliminate our shared threats.”
