Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his international trips, asserting that they have proven to be more beneficial than those of previous administrations.
Sani noted that Tinubu’s travels have resulted in significant economic advantages for Nigeria, marking a stark contrast to the often criticized foreign excursions of past leaders.
He specifically pointed out the President’s visits to countries such as Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, China, and South Africa, which have brought tangible economic benefits to Nigeria. One key highlight was Brazil’s announcement of a $4.2 billion grant aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s agricultural sector, which will be distributed among local governments.
“The history of presidential foreign trips in Nigeria has often been associated with wastefulness. However, this time there is a clear and positive distinction,” Sani expressed on his X account. “The President’s engagements in Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, China, and South Africa have attracted concrete and verifiable economic benefits for our nation.”
He further emphasized, “Returning from a trip with substantial outcomes is commendable; however, coming back empty-handed is unacceptable.”
Sani’s remarks come in the wake of new economic statistics indicating that Nigeria’s foreign direct investment (FDI) surged by 248.1% ($103.82 million) in the third quarter of 2024.
