The Sokoto State Police Command has officially welcomed its new Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, who becomes the 48th holder of the position in the state. He succeeds CP Ali Hayatu Kaigama, who has recently retired from service.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesman, ASP Ahmed Rufai, CP Ahmed Musa is originally from Mubi North Local Government Area in Adamawa State.
CP Musa’s career in law enforcement began on June 10, 1994, when he was enlisted as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Cadet and trained at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano. His first assignment was with the Kogi Command as an ASP on probation.
Over the years, he has gained extensive experience, serving in various capacities including general duty, administration, operations, traffic management, and investigations.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Maiduguri and has held numerous positions throughout his career. Before his appointment as Sokoto’s Police Commissioner, he served as CP Community Safety and Crime Prevention at the Department of Operations, Force Headquarters (DOPS FHQ).
Described as a highly skilled professional and astute administrator, CP Ahmed Musa is recognized for his expertise in intelligence, cybersecurity, and counter-terrorism, as well as his advocacy for community policing. He is known for his open-door policy and adherence to international best practices.
In his new role, CP Musa is committed to enhancing the security framework of Sokoto State and is calling for the support and cooperation of the local community to foster a secure and conducive environment.
