The Sokoto state government has shared plans to bring in 300 truckloads of rice that will be sold to the people of the state at a much lower price. This big move, which was announced on Wednesday, is part of the state government’s effort to make food more affordable for everyone in Sokoto as food prices continue to rise.

During a press conference held right after the State Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner for Local Government, Ibrahim Dadi Adare, spoke about how deeply the Sokoto government is worried about the ongoing economic struggles faced by the people, not just in the state but across the whole country.

As a result of the council’s approval, the government is set to buy 300 truckloads of rice. The good news for the residents is that this rice will be sold at a price that’s about 55% cheaper than what it normally costs in the market.

“The government, led by Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, is fully dedicated to helping the people during these tough times,” said Adare. “We have decided to bring in 300 truckloads of rice, which will be sent out across the state to all 244 wards. Each ward will get one truckload of rice, and it will be sold at a significantly reduced price.”

This initiative aims to provide relief to many families who have been struggling with high food prices, ensuring that more households can afford to put rice, a staple food, on their tables without breaking the bank. Through this program, the Sokoto state government is taking a strong step towards helping its people cope with the financial pressure caused by the ever-increasing cost of living.

This measure is expected to be a breath of fresh air for residents, offering some ease from the financial strain, while demonstrating the government’s commitment to its citizens in these challenging times.
