Kinsmen of Senator Mohammed Ndume, organized under the Southern Borno Concerned Citizens (SBCC), have expressed their support for him in light of a potential recall initiated by the Northern Redemption Coalition (NRC).

The NRC’s recall effort stems from Ndume’s opposition to the Tax Reform Bills currently being debated in the National Assembly. These bills have encountered significant resistance from Northern leaders, including the Northern Governors Forum (NGF), youth organizations, and various stakeholders, who argue that the proposals would exacerbate economic difficulties in the North.

Comrade Bulama Ali Sawa, the National Chairman of SBCC, defended Ndume’s position, asserting that it aligns with the best interests of his constituents.

“It is both unfortunate and unfounded to call for the recall of a dedicated senator who tirelessly advocates for the welfare of the masses across Nigeria,” Sawa remarked, emphasizing that the NRC lacks credibility and is represented by an unnamed “president” called Adamu Bashir.

He continued, “Senator Ndume’s statements on national television truly reflect the concerns of his constituents, who are acutely aware of the dangers these tax bills could pose.”

Previously, Senator Ndume faced disciplinary actions from his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), due to his criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which resulted in his removal as the Senate Chief Whip. He has since issued a public apology to the party.
