A statement by Musa Krishi, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, highlighted Abbas’s understanding of the frustrations and concerns of the Nigerian youth. He assured that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is actively working to alleviate these issues. Abbas mentioned that the House of Representatives is committed to engaging with the youth, listening to their needs, and addressing their concerns.

“We are going through tough times, and I understand the hardships many of you, particularly our youth, are experiencing. Economic difficulties and social uncertainties are major challenges.

“We hear your calls for change and a fairer Nigeria. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government is dedicated to addressing these concerns. We are committed to listening, engaging, and finding long-term solutions.

“The government has started several initiatives to support our youth. One such initiative is the introduction of student loans to help with educational costs, ensuring no Nigerian youth is denied the chance to pursue their academic goals due to financial issues.

“The Tinubu administration has also taken steps to provide funds for young entrepreneurs through various programs, such as the Consumer Credit Scheme, to support innovation and enterprise.

“We are focusing on job creation and skills development, prioritizing programs that enhance employability and create sustainable livelihoods. We want the Nigerian youth to become job creators, not just job seekers.

“The House of Representatives is developing formal legislative mechanisms to ensure continuous engagement with the youth. We are creating platforms for regular interaction to build consensus on the way forward.

“I urge you to remember that building our nation is a collective effort. We must avoid violence and embrace dialogue. Your right to protest is acknowledged and respected, but let us use legitimate ways to express our grievances and work towards constructive solutions.

“Therefore, I ask those planning these national protests to reconsider for the nation’s sake. Let’s give the government more time and open doors for meaningful dialogue. The government is taking measures to address our challenges.

“In conclusion, I want to reaffirm the commitment of the House of Representatives to stand with you, work with you, and ensure a bright future for you.”
