In a heartwarming initiative, Special Olympics Nigeria has launched the 2024 ESPN Unified Sports Program, aimed at creating an inclusive sports environment for people with and without intellectual disabilities. The program promotes social inclusion and mutual respect, breaking down barriers and stereotypes.

Fifty-two coaches, teachers, and youths from Ife, Ilesa, and Osogbo communities came together for a three-day coach training session at the School for Persons with Special Needs in Osogbo, Osun State. The training session equipped coaches with the skills and knowledge to nurture talent and foster teamwork.

The Unified Sports Program has already made a significant impact in Nigeria, touching the lives of over 12,000 participants across 18 states. The program has been embraced by schools and communities, promoting inclusion and acceptance.

With the support of ESPN, the program empowers individuals to engage through the power of sports, creating inclusive environments and celebrating abilities. The goal is to reach 10,000 schools by 2024, fostering acceptance and reducing stigma.
