Taiwo Shittu, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lanre Shittu Motors Ltd., has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts in reforming Nigeria’s automotive sector and implementing mass transportation initiatives, notably the CNG buses project.

Speaking from the Harvard Business School with a Correspondent from P.M News, Shittu expressed satisfaction with several measures taken by the current government to revitalize auto assembly plants in the country, with a particular focus on assembling CNG buses. This initiative aims to enhance public transportation and alleviate challenges faced by commuters.

In line with presidential directives prioritizing CNG buses as the preferred mode of transport for various ministries, departments, and agencies, the government has demonstrated its commitment to bolstering local auto assembly plants.

During a telephone interview, Taiwo Shittu disclosed that Lanre Shittu Motors plans to deploy a significant number of LSM-branded CNG buses at airports nationwide and for other mass transportation requirements by June 2024.

He revealed that LSM had contemplated the concept of CNG vehicles years ago, recognizing it as the future of the local automotive industry.

This foresight was driven by the ample supply of natural gas in the economy and the economic advantages for both operators and commuters when using CNG buses.

Taiwo Shittu reassured that plans are underway to commence assembling LSM-branded CNG buses in Lagos, leveraging cutting-edge technology similar to practices in other parts of the world.

He reassured prospective customers about the quality of after-sales maintenance for any stock order produced at the assembly plant.

With a legacy spanning over 40 years, LSM, under the guidance of its visionary founder and chairman, Late Alhaji Lanre Shittu, has established an esteemed reputation in the automotive industry through its commitment to quality products and services.

Taiwo Shittu highlighted that introducing LSM-branded buses is one of the many ways to honor and immortalize his father’s legacy.

After graduating and obtaining certification, technicians are not only deployed to various LSM offices nationwide but are also in high demand by other stakeholders within Nigeria’s automotive value chain.

The management of Lanre Shittu Motors affirms that all branches of the company are presently equipped with state-of-the-art CNG conversion equipment, and orders have been activated and are being executed smoothly.
