Comrade Timi Frank, the former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly condemned President Bola Tinubu for his silence over the widespread demolition of properties in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which has been ordered by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

In a statement released in Abuja, Frank urged Tinubu to intervene and put a stop to Wike’s actions, cautioning that these demolitions could have serious political consequences ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Frank accused Wike of worsening the difficulties faced by FCT residents under the pretext of restoring the city’s master plan. He asserted that the demolitions have inflicted significant hardship on property owners and criticized Tinubu for what he perceives as an implicit endorsement of Wike’s actions through his lack of response.

“The President’s silence essentially signals his acceptance of illegality and shows a blatant disregard for the suffering of ordinary Nigerians,” Frank stated.

He also took aim at Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who recently defended Wike by claiming that the demolitions were sanctioned by a court order. Frank contended that Akpabio’s defense undermines Senate resolutions that have called for an end to the demolitions.

The Bayelsa-born political figure alleged that Wike is using the demolitions as a means to settle personal grievances and strengthen his political influence, accusing him of redistributing confiscated properties to himself, his allies, and proxies.

Frank characterized Wike’s management of the FCT as tyrannical, claiming that it has eroded investor confidence in Nigeria. “Wike’s brutal methods, combined with a compromised judicial system, will deter foreign investors from coming to Nigeria,” he warned.

He urged President Tinubu to take prompt action to address the concerns of affected citizens, provide fair compensation for their losses, and put an end to Wike’s “vindictive and oppressive behavior.”

Frank called on Nigerians to demand accountability and justice, emphasizing that the rights of all citizens must be safeguarded.
