President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), replacing Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was announced on Monday in a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
The statement also revealed that Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
Ambassador Mohammed, who joined the NIA in 1995, has had a distinguished career in the foreign service.
His career includes various roles, leading to his promotion to Director and his recent position as the head of the Nigerian mission in Libya.
A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Ambassador Mohammed has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.
Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, advanced through the ranks to his most recent position as Assistant Director-General of the Service. His career includes serving as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
The statement further mentioned that these appointments follow the resignation of the previous heads of the NIA and DSS.
President Tinubu has charged the new security chiefs to leverage their experience to address the country’s security challenges by enhancing collaboration with sister agencies and aligning closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
President Tinubu also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General of the DSS and NIA for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
