President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Michael Ango as the acting Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS).This announcement was made by Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press at the Office of the FCT Minister, in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.
Ango’s appointment is expected to bolster the FCT-IRS’s revenue base. He succeeds Mr. Haruna Abdullahi, who has served as the acting Chairman for approximately three years.
With over 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, Ango is noted for his dedication to excellence and innovation in revenue collection and management. Ogunleye emphasized that Ango’s extensive background in revenue administration, financial management, and organizational leadership positions him well to enhance the performance of the FCT-IRS.
A native of Kebbi State, Ango holds a Master of Law degree from Columbia University School of Law (2019) and a Bachelor of Law degree from Ahmadu Bello University (2002). He completed his studies at the Nigerian Law School in 2003 and participated in the Harvard Kennedy School’s Executive Education Programme in Comparative Tax Policy and Administration in 2013.
Ango is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the International Association of Privacy Professionals, among other organizations.
In his new role, Ango will be responsible for implementing strategic initiatives aimed at improving revenue generation, enhancing taxpayer compliance, and streamlining operations to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness for the FCT-IRS.
