President Bola Tinubu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to President Lazarus Chakwera and the people of Malawi following the tragic passing of Vice President Saulos Chilima and other officials in a plane crash.

In a statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu conveyed his sympathy to the families of the deceased, describing the incident as deeply distressing. The crash occurred on  Monday, June 10, 2024.

President Tinubu assured the Malawian nation of Nigeria’s solidarity and support during this period of mourning. He also offered prayers for the souls of the departed.

In a separate development, President Tinubu congratulated Justice Muhammadu Lawal Uwais, former Chief Justice of Nigeria, on his birthday.

Acknowledging Justice Uwais’ significant contributions to the nation, including his roles as Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Chairman of the Nigerian Body of Benchers, and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Judicial Institute, President Tinubu praised the jurist’s courage, wisdom, and distinguished legal career.

President Tinubu commended Justice Uwais for his service to Nigeria, noting his pivotal role in shaping the country’s judiciary.

He concluded by praying for many more years of good health for the elder statesman and his family.
