President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on his recent coronation as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan, an ancient city with a rich cultural heritage.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, on Friday, the President celebrated alongside the family of the new Olubadan, the citizens of Ibadan, the Oyo State Council of Obas, and the Oyo State Government.
He praised Oba Olakulehin for bringing to the throne immense wisdom, experience, character, and strength.
President Tinubu urged the newly crowned traditional ruler to utilize his esteemed position to foster peace, enhance security, and drive development in the region. He assured Oba Olakulehin of his support and wished him success in promoting and preserving the culture and traditions of Ibadan.
The President also commended the peaceful succession process in Ibadan and expressed hopes for the enduring peace, beauty, and renown of the ancient city.
Born on July 5, 1935, Oba Olakulehin pursued his education at Yaba College of Technology, obtaining both his Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Building.
His distinguished career includes service in the Nigerian Army Corp of Engineers, where he retired as a Major after 25 years of service.
Following his military career, he ventured into private business and later entered politics, serving as a member of the House of Representatives from 1992.
Oba Olakulehin, aged 89, was formally crowned the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland in a ceremony attended by dignitaries including the Ooni of Ife, the Sultan of Sokoto, and former political leaders.
