President Bola Ahmed Tinubu acknowledged the past year’s challenges and expressed his dedication to revitalizing the financial system to bring about prosperity and relief for Nigerians.
Speaking at the inauguration of engineering infrastructure in Guzape District Lot II, Abuja, the President emphasized his administration’s commitment to prioritizing people-focused development by providing essential infrastructure and amenities to enhance the quality of life.
In a gesture of recognition, President Tinubu named two roads in the Guzape area after renowned African literary figures, Chinua Achebe and Jp Clark, following the recommendation and appeal from the Federal Capital Territory’s Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Acknowledging the exceptional leadership displayed by Minister Wike during these challenging times, President Tinubu emphasized the ongoing efforts to retool and strengthen the financial system for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
He also stressed the importance of compensation rather than litigation for those affected by the project, and highlighted the significance of development that focuses on economic prosperity and benefits for the people.
Minister Wike provided further insights into the project, explaining that the contract, initially awarded in 2003 at a cost of N14 billion, was divided into Lots 1 and 2 for different construction companies. Despite facing various litigations, the development of the district, which spans 32km of road, continued uninterrupted.
Prior to the current administration taking office, the project cost was revised to N18.17 billion.
Overall, President Tinubu and Minister Wike reiterated their commitment to driving inclusive development and improving the lives of Nigerians through strategic infrastructure investments and effective financial reforms.
