Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh has opened up about her decision to divorce her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, describing it as the best choice she ever made for both herself and her son.
In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Dikeh revealed that a fellow single mother had reached out to her via direct message, asking how she managed to cope when her ex left. Responding, Dikeh clarified that it was she who left the marriage.
“First and foremost, I was the one who chose to walk away from my marriage, not the other way around. I needed to escape a difficult situation, not just for my own sake, but for my child as well. Best decision I ever made,” she wrote.
Dikeh encouraged the woman to focus on her personal growth, reassuring her that she has the power to become the person she desires to be.

“I don’t have a manual for these things. I am neither a pro in this movement. My biggest teacher has been love. I just let God do His thing, and His thing is enough for me. Draw strength from God, most especially keep your family matters private,” she advised.
The actress’s marriage to Churchill ended in 2017 amid allegations of infidelity and domestic violence. The couple shares a son, but the aftermath of their divorce has been turbulent, with both parties publicly accusing each other of wrongdoing.
Despite the conflict, Dikeh continues to stand by her decision to leave the marriage for her and her son’s well-being.
