Traditional leaders have urged for calm amidst the upcoming nationwide protest slated to commence on August 1st, 2024, driven by mounting economic hardships in Nigeria. The protest has gained momentum across social media platforms, prompting a gathering between traditional rulers and President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.

Acknowledging the grievances, he added, “I understand your frustrations. As a young person myself, having observed our nation’s path for 24 years, I’ve witnessed unsettling directions. Yet, with divine grace, if given the opportunity, let us not undermine our own homeland amidst these protests.”
Similarly, Emir Ahmed Bamalli of Zazzau expressed concerns among the country’s leadership regarding the planned demonstrations. “We urge our citizens to exercise patience and heed the wisdom imparted by our traditional rulers and governors. Following our discussions with the President, he has outlined ongoing efforts,” he stated.
