A tragic incident occurred earlier today in a community in Ondo State, where a local indigene reportedly stabbed a corps member to death over a romantic dispute.
The deceased corps member, who was posted to the community for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, was allegedly attacked due to a longstanding love interest between the assailant and a lady in the community.
According to eyewitness accounts, the attacker had been interested in the lady long before the arrival of the corps member in the community.
Tensions reportedly escalated as the relationship between the lady and the corps member deepened, sparking jealousy and culminating in today’s fatal confrontation.
Local authorities have withheld the names of those involved pending further investigation. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently in police custody as investigations are ongoing.
