A somber atmosphere enveloped the Oyedele household in Abeokuta today as their joyful return from church quickly turned into a heartbreaking tragedy. The family, who had just attended Sunday service, sat down to share their afternoon meal prepared by Mrs. Oyedele.
As the family gathered at the dining table, one of the sons, Bolu Oyedele, began eating his portion of the meal. While eating, Bolu suddenly complained of an intense burning sensation in his head, attributed to the spicy pepper used in the dish. Despite the family’s efforts to ease his discomfort by giving him water to drink, Bolu’s condition worsened.
In a state of panic, his parents rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors worked frantically to save him. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain, and Bolu was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The cause of death remains unclear, as doctors are conducting further investigations to determine whether Bolu had an allergic reaction or suffered another medical emergency triggered by the spicy meal. The tragic loss has left the Oyedele family in deep mourning, with friends and neighbors extending their condolences.
