A mother and her 4-year-old child were involved in a ghastly accident in Benue State. The incident occurred on the Makurdi-Gboko Road, a notorious stretch known for frequent accidents.
Eyewitnesses report that the accident happened around 1:30 PM, when a speeding commercial bus lost control and collided head-on with a private car. The mother, identified as Mrs. Grace, was driving the car with her son, Joseph, in the back seat.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, but tragically, Joseph was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Mrs. Grace sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Benue State University Teaching Hospital. Her condition is reported to be critical.
Local authorities have commenced an investigation into the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver of the commercial bus may have been speeding and attempting to overtake another vehicle when he lost control.
