Former US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he was shot in the head region during his campaign at Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. president, was seen being helped off stage with thin streaks of blood on his face by U.S. Secret Service members after shots were fired while he was onstage at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
The Trump campaign said in a statement on Saturday evening that Trump was “fine” and that he is “being checked out at a local medical facility.” Donald Trump Jr. also told ABC News that his father is “in good spirits” as he remains under medical observation.
A suspected gunman and one audience member are dead, the AP reported, citing Butler County district attorney Richard Goldinger. Another spectator is in a serious condition.
President Joe Biden denounced the violence during remarks on Saturday night and said in a statement earlier that he’s “grateful” Trump is safe. 
Trump and Biden are locked in a close election rematch, with most opinion polls showing the two evenly matched. Trump is due to officially receive the Republican nomination at the Republican National Convention that kicks off in Milwaukee on Monday.
Trump who is being attended to at a hospital said he was shot while thanking the US secret service for their rapid response.
“I want to thank the United States secret service and all of our las enforcement for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person in the rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person who was injured.
“It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead.
“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shot and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.
“Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.
“God bless America!!!” Donald Trump said.
