The United States President-elect Donald Trump has picked Elon Musk to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) for the incoming administration.
Trump announced that Vivek Ramaswamy, who is a biotech investor, will work with the SpaceX and Tesla founder on the project – and the acronym refer to Musk favourite cryptocurrency Dogecoin – to “dismantle” bureaucracy.
Musk and Ramaswamy will provide advice to the White House on how to “drive large scale structural reform”, Trump said.
Making the announcement on Tuesday, Trump said the Doge initiative will help his administration “dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures and restructure Federal Agencies”.
The appointment is only, but awaiting approval and confirmation as all parties are aware of the task ahead.
