Residents have been exhorted to show resiliency and empathy by the Lagos State Chapter of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), acknowledging that their power is in unanimity.
As he celebrated Eid-el Kabir with Muslim faithful on Sunday in Lagos, state chairman Mr. Gbenga Ekundayo made this declaration in a statement.
According to Ekundayo, the celebration reminds us of the enduring spirit of love, sacrifice, harmony, and unity that Sallah represents.
He claims that it is a time for introspection, thankfulness, and a reaffirmation of the nation’s common ideals.
‘’The only things that will help us get through these trying times as a people are the genuine spirit of Lagos, which is based on resiliency, a never-say-die mentality, and our combined efforts.
“We can overcome the challenges ahead of us and create a more prosperous and harmonious society by uniting and supporting one another,” he stated.
The chairman called on the political elite to set a good example, be genuinely concerned about the well-being of the populace, and pledge to support fairness and justice via their actions.
“We can address the pressing issues facing our people and pave the way for a brighter future through their leadership and our collective efforts,” he stated.
The TUC National President, Mr. Festus Osifo, had earlier in his statement said that the union would use all of its legal resources to keep up its arduous efforts to better the lives of Nigerian workers and their families.
According to Osifo, Sallah is significant because it serves as a reminder of the union’s adherence to its core ideals, principles, and beliefs.
We must continue to be firm and brave in our pursuit of workers’ rights, decent employment, social justice, and a better Nigeria, just as Prophet Ibrahim showed unshakable faith.
“This is especially crucial right now, as our country faces enormous economic and social challenges,” he stated.
