In the early hours of this morning, two armed robbers were apprehended by the police in the Sagamu area of Ogun State.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 AM when the robbers broke into a residential building and attempted to rob its occupants.
Tragically, a tenant who resisted the robbers was shot in the chest and died immediately on the scene. The commotion and the gunshot alerted neighbours, who promptly contacted the police.
Responding swiftly to the distress call, the police arrived at the scene. Upon confronting the armed robbers, a brief standoff ensued.
One of the robbers was shot in the leg by the police, incapacitating him and leading to the capture of both suspects.
The injured robber received immediate medical attention at the scene before being taken into custody. Both robbers are currently held at the Police Station, where they await further investigation and charges.
The police have assured the public that thorough investigations are underway and that justice will be served for the deceased tenant.
The community of Sagamu has expressed relief at the swift action of the police but remains in mourning for the loss of their neighbor.
