An Uber driver was arrested today in Lagos for his involvement in an attempted kidnapping. The driver, whose identity has been withheld, was reportedly paid by unknown individuals to kidnap his passengers.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning. The driver picked up two passengers from Ikeja, ostensibly for a routine ride to their destination in Victoria Island.
However, the passengers became suspicious when the driver deviated from the expected route and headed towards an unfamiliar area.
Sensing danger, one of the passengers discreetly contacted the police, who were able to track the vehicle’s location through the Uber app. The police intercepted the car near the Oshodi area, successfully rescuing the passengers and arresting the driver.
Residents of Lagos have expressed shock and concern over the incident, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures within the city’s transportation networks. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
