The University of Ilorin authorities in Kwara State have dismissed a 100-Level student named Olanrewaju AbdulKadir for allegedly requesting a ransom from the parent of a missing fellow student. AbdulKadir’s expulsion was verified in the university’s weekly bulletin signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun.
The student who was expelled, identified with matriculation number 22/52HL004, belonged to the Department of Information Technology in the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences. The reporter found out that the university suspended a 400-level student, Segun Micheal Oyewole, for assaulting a female student.
Oyewole, who was suspended for one academic session, is studying in the Department of Counsellor Education, Faculty of Education. In the meantime, the university has disclosed the promotion of 16 senior academics to the position of Professor.
Their advancement, based on the suggestions of the University Appointment and Promotion Committee and endorsed by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, SAN, acknowledged their outstanding accomplishments in teaching, research, and community engagement. A communication from the Office of the Registrar mentioned that these 16 distinguished scholars were recognized for their excellence in teaching, research, and community service.
The list of those who benefited from the promotion includes three new Professors from the Faculty of Clinical Sciences: Prof. John Kola Olarinoye, Prof. James Ayodele Ogunmodede, and Prof. Simeon Kayode Olubiyi. From the Faculty of Education, Prof. Abdulrahman Suyuti Omosidi, who teaches in the Department of Educational Management, was promoted.
Additionally, two lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology were also promoted to the position of Professor: Prof. Kamorudeen Olaniyi Yusuf and Prof. Habeeb Adewale Ajimotokan
