Unknown gunmen abducted Mrs. Elizabeth Uruakpa, a 66-year-old widow and Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State.

The incident occurred as Uruakpa was returning from an evening church service. According to reports, the assailants ambushed her near the entrance of her home, located behind the new Ilisan market.

Witnesses say the attack created panic in the neighbourhood, with many residents and shop owners quickly locking their doors in fear.

A resident, speaking anonymously, recounted the abduction: “She was coming back from church around 7 p.m. when the gunmen struck. They dragged her out of her vehicle and forced her into their red Toyota before speeding off. It happened so fast, like a flash of lightning. Nothing like this has ever happened here before, and it’s terrifying.”

Confirming the incident, Dr. Joshua Suleiman, Director of Communication and Marketing at Babcock University, stated, “I became aware of the situation last night. The news was shared on one of the university’s platforms, but we’re still gathering detailed information. Once available, I will provide further updates.”

Attempts to reach the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, for comments, were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to her phone had not been responded to at the time of this report.
