Former Arsenal star Robin Van Persie has disregarded rumours of him one day becoming an Arsenal coach.

After spending eight years with Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, playing over 190 games for the club and scoring more than 90 official goals for the Gunners, the former striker was denied the opportunity to one day stand at the Emirates Dog as their coach.

“I don’t expect to work at Arsenal. I think that is closed, because of my switch to Manchester United.” Van Persie said.

The forward in 2012 switched to Manchester and joined Arsenal’s rival United where he won his first ever Premier League title as a footballer.

He however remained optimistic that maybe, their supporters might have a change of heart .”You never know in football, but that is my assessment. It is still sensitive for them, not for me — it is especially sensitive for the Arsenal fans.” The Dutchman added.

The 41-year-old is currently the head coach of Dutch Eredivisie club Heerenveen, but will one day aim at returning to the Premier League as a coach of a top club.
