Popular blogger Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has disclosed how he came into possession of a controversial phone recording involving Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

VDM made this revelation on Monday during his appearance before a House of Representatives panel investigating bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

As the joint committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions began their probe, personnel from both the EFCC and NCoS were also present to address the accusations brought forward by the blogger.

VeryDarkMan initially refused to testify in the absence of Bobrisky, who had sent his lawyer instead of appearing in person. However, lawmakers countered VDM’s stance, passing a motion that compelled him to address the issue, particularly regarding the voice recording he released.

Despite threats of legal action from the committee, VDM remained firm that his lawyer would speak on his behalf.

VDM revealed that the controversial audio recording was obtained from an individual to whom Bobrisky owed money.

In the viral recording, Bobrisky allegedly discusses paying N15 million to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges filed against him during his widely publicized naira-spraying incident in April. Bobrisky was later sentenced to six months in prison following the incident.

VDM further claimed that Bobrisky paid additional millions of naira to secure a favorable position during his prison term, which has drawn widespread attention to the case.

The House committee continues its investigation into the bribery and corruption allegations, with the public eagerly awaiting further developments.
