Vice-President Kashim Shettima is poised to take a prominent role at the upcoming Second Africa Climate Forum (ACF) 2024, where he will emphasize Nigeria’s crucial position in advancing climate action and sustainable development across the African continent.

This much-anticipated event is set to occur on October 14-15, 2024, in Abuja, gathering influential stakeholders and thought leaders from Africa and beyond to reaffirm the continent’s dedication to climate resilience and innovative solutions.

According to the organizers of the forum, the Global Centre for Law, Business, and Economy (GCLBE), Shettima will be represented by Miss Rukaiya El-Rufai, who serves as the Special Adviser on NEC and Climate Change. His keynote address is anticipated to focus on Nigeria’s climate policy framework and its strategic vision for establishing Africa as a frontrunner in the global shift toward sustainable energy.

The theme for this year’s forum, “Africa’s Climate Future: Pathways from Dependence to Leadership,” comes at a critical juncture for the continent. Following the successful launch of the inaugural forum in 2023, the 2024 edition is expected to deliver an even greater impact, offering a venue for discussions, knowledge exchange, and collaboration on vital climate issues.

Key topics of discussion will include Africa’s urgent challenges such as access to clean energy, climate finance, green technology, and responsible management of resources.

Additionally, the forum will spotlight the significance of incorporating gender perspectives in climate solutions, a vital aspect of contemporary sustainability dialogues.
