Kashim Shettima, Nigeria’s Vice President, has hailed Air Peace as “a source of national pride and a quintessential Nigerian success story,” acknowledging its steadfastness, patriotic commitment, and vital contributions to the country’s aviation sector and overall economy.

Shettima’s remarks were delivered by Hon. Sa’idi Alkali Ahmed, the Minister of Transport, during the airline’s 10th anniversary celebration held recently in Lagos.

The event saw participation from all 36 state governors, with some attending in person while others were represented by delegates. Numerous industry leaders from various fields also gathered to commemorate this significant milestone.

In his address, Shettima characterized the anniversary as a reflection of Air Peace’s lasting impact on Nigerian airspace and its resonance with the Nigerian populace.

He praised the airline for fostering commerce, tourism, and international connectivity, commending its efforts in expanding domestic flight routes and establishing Nigeria as a key player in regional air travel.

The Vice President further recognized Dr. Allen Onyema, the Chairman of Air Peace, for his role in generating employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians, as well as for individuals beyond Nigeria’s borders.

He stated, “Air Peace has demonstrated remarkable resilience, showcasing the strength of its leadership and dedicated workforce.”

Shettima also highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing the aviation sector in Nigeria, referencing the recent adoption of the Cape Town Convention on aviation leasing, which is expected to lower operational expenses and enhance competitiveness within the industry.

Additionally, the Vice President acknowledged Air Peace’s readiness to serve the nation, recalling the airline’s crucial involvement in repatriating Nigerians from conflict-affected areas in Sudan, Libya, and South Africa.
