In a recent interview on the “Honest Bunch” podcast, Denilson Igwe, a former member of the Mark Angel Comedy crew, made startling allegations against the group’s founder, Mark Angel.

Denilson claimed that despite the group earning up to $160,000 monthly in 2016, he was paid only N50,000 while Emmanuella, the prominent child comedian, received just N20,000.

Denilson, who played a significant role in creating the popular comedy skits and worked as a cameraman, accused Mark Angel of not being transparent about the revenue generated from their Facebook page.

According to Denilson, Mark Angel, who was a security guard at the time, suggested creating the Facebook page, which he later monetized without informing the rest of the crew.

Denilson also alleged that Mark Angel misled the crew by presenting a car purchase in 2014 as a gift, further concealing the true financial situation. He claimed that Emmanuella’s monthly salary of N20,000 was shockingly low compared to the substantial income the group was generating.

As an orphan, Denilson expressed that he felt compelled to speak out, having witnessed negative consequences for others who criticized Mark Angel. He shared his experiences, saying, “Mark was the elder brother of the house; he was a security guard in Kilimanjaro GRA, Port Harcourt.

I did camerawork for them. There was a man, Ifeanyi, and during our free time, I would create those comedies. Mark suggested creating a Facebook page, and I agreed. I didn’t know when it was monetized; I just kept doing the work. Suddenly, in 2014, he bought a car and said someone gave it to him.

He started paying Emmanuella N20,000 every month. We were poor and didn’t know the value of the comedy. In 2015, he gave me N50,000 for the first time, despite us making $160,000 monthly.”

Denilson concluded by highlighting the gravity of the situation, saying, “The only person that can talk about him is me because I am an orphan. If you have a problem with him, it’s either you die or you have an accident.”

These allegations have sparked controversy and raised serious questions about the financial and managerial practices within the Mark Angel Comedy group.
