The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has refuted the August 5 WASSCE results release date.
WAEC announced that no official date has been set for the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination results.
In a telephone interview with Thepaan on Tuesday, WAEC Communication Officer Moyosore Adeyegbe clarified that the reported August 5 release date is “unofficial.”
She said, “It could be released before the said date and may even be after, the August 5 date was not verified from the appropriate quarters.”
When asked if the date was incorrect and when the official release date would be, she responded, “Results are usually released on or before 45 days after the conduct of the last paper. If you calculate this in relation to August 5, it’s not up to 45 days.
She added, ” the date has not been verified or confirmed by WAEC. The report didn’t come from us. The person speculated, so it’s neither here nor there. It could be before then or after then, but it definitely might not be on that date.”
