The Nigeria U-17 male team, the golden eaglets will tomorrow square up against their Togolese counter in their final group game that can prove decisive in their quest for a World Cup spot.

The Eaglets who started their campaign with a goalless draw against Burkina Faso will need a win or draw in their last game to finish strong on the log.

Nigeria currently sits second in the group with four points after a draw in their first match and I slim win in their second match to progress to the semi-finals.

Nigeria defeated Nigeria Republic with a lone goal thanks to Adams 30th minute header which was too good for their opponents to equalize.

Despite having the lead, Nigeria was reduced to 10 men in the 63rd minutes after Okorie Chibuike was shown a red card to put pressure on the Manu Garba boys.

But the boys showed character and resilience to come out victorious and set up a crucial final game against group weeping boys Togo who have been defeated by both Burkina Faso and Niger also as their elimination was confirmed.

Nigeria will have to win or pull a draw against Togo to guarantee a place in the semi finals of the 2024 edition of the West African Football Union to enable them qualify for the continents main event which also serves as qualifiers to the FIFA U-17 men World Cup which Nigeria have been crowned champions on five big occasions.

“We will have to beat Togo on Wednesday. They are a good side and we will not underrate them,” Garba said.
